We all are aware of the health benefits from drinking tea and what a better way to detox during the holidays than curling up by the fire in your comfy pj’s and a cup of hot tea in hand.
Tea contains many benefits such as Vitamin B, antioxidants, notably catechins and helps with energy increase, improves muscle endurance and reduces the risk of heart attacks. Tea is also known to help protect against illness and disease.
In some cultures tea is an important part of food culture. The Japanese are known for their beautiful tea ceremonies which is a cultural activity involving great ceremonial preparations and presentations of tea. These ceremonies were a time of spiritual experiences and moments for all to be part of.
So to get more tea into my daily life I began to prepare my tea in a ceremonial way. As it came time to prepare my tea, I created moments of silence and prayer. From pouring the water into the kettle to straining the loose tea leaves, my tea preparations was a time of appreciation, healing and blessings. Tea became a spiritual experience that allowed time for myself to reflect, and most importantly, time alone with God.
